Compound Buyer
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Compound Buyer ("we", "our") handles personal data in connection with the Compound Buyer website at compoundbuyer.com and the Compound Buyer Research Report newsletter. It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Data we collect
Compound Buyer is an editorial publication. We do not run an e-commerce funnel. The only personal data we routinely collect is:
- Email address, when you subscribe to the Compound Buyer Research Report newsletter.
- Confirmation that you are a trade reader (research, procurement or laboratory professional), captured at point of subscription.
- Anonymised analytics, including page views, country of access and referring source. We do not use cookies that identify individual readers, and we do not load third-party advertising scripts.
2. Lawful basis
Our lawful basis for processing your email address is consent under Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR. You provide consent by entering your email and ticking the trade-reader confirmation. You can withdraw consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send you, or by writing to the editorial address below.
3. How we use your data
- To send you the Compound Buyer Research Report when a new edition publishes (twice yearly) and interim notices when a reviewed supplier's status materially changes.
- To respond to editorial enquiries and corrections you send us.
- For internal analytics, to understand which sections readers find useful so future editions can be improved.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or trade your data with any third party.
- We do not share your data with the suppliers reviewed in the Research Report.
- We do not use your data for re-targeting or behavioural advertising.
- We do not transfer your data outside the UK or the European Economic Area without an adequacy decision in place.
5. Data retention
Your subscription data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed, plus a 30-day grace period after unsubscription to confirm the request and prevent re-addition errors. Editorial correspondence is retained for two years to support corrections and right-of-reply procedures.
6. Your rights as a data subject
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict processing of your data.
- Data portability, where applicable.
- Object to processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, send a message to the editorial desk and select "Data protection (UK GDPR)" as the topic. We respond within one calendar month.
7. ICO registration
Compound Buyer is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The ICO is the UK regulator for data-protection matters. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
8. Security
Email addresses are held in an encrypted UK/EU-based email service provider. Internal access is restricted to editorial staff. We do not store payment data, identity documents or any special-category data.
9. Cookies
This site does not use behavioural-advertising cookies. We use only essential cookies required to operate the site and a privacy-respecting analytics cookie that does not identify individual readers.
10. Contact
For editorial and data-protection enquiries, send a message to the editorial desk.
